AIM OF THE SUMMER ACADEMY
These summer courses provide students with a truly international education, offering a combination of European, national and regional perspectives of the information privacy and also to the intellectual property rights. Through lecturing and open discussions, we provide to our participants understanding the European regulation on issues that has become a necessity for the education of the European lawyers.
Every academic year, we have considered the Summer Academy as a possibility to enrich, the students’ knowledge through the new demission of law and layering, the growth of international business relations and the interference of technology, as well as the most trend law subjects.
The academic and scientific interest of the included subjects will cover questions like the context of personal data processing and the tension between different interests at stake; the challenges of data protection as a fundamental right, the general framework for the protection of personal data provided for in General Data Protection Regulation.
Also, the topics are combined in such a way that offers value added approach through excellent models while increasing the participants’ competence with knowledge through problem solving approaches in the field of law and economics of patents, challenges for the European patent system, intellectual property protection in the EU candidate countries and the challenges and perspectives of the potential candidate countries.
The Law Summer Academy holds courses on topics related to the above-mentioned issues, giving to the students not only a presentation on the ongoing challenges of the European legal system, but also the future prospects.
The Summer Academy comprises lectures on the possibilities, opportunities of the legal profession for the millennial generation, challenges that are facing like the explosion of data, the augmented-reality technology, property rights and their economics of trademarks, as well as on increasing the importance of settlement skills.
All courses have complementary workshop sessions with theoretical and practical content offered by lecturers and trainers, who are experts with vast international experience.
The summer school includes an enthusing program with social gatherings and affords the opportunity to build a network of future lawyers and friends.

TARGET GROUPS
The program is intended for public sector and non-governmental organizations as well as those from private sector wanting a better understanding of computer crimes in a legal context. It builds on the experience of the Bachelor program and the extensive demand for those targeted courses.
The program is especially relevant for those looking to develop professional skills and understanding in relation to (i) bachelor students wanting to enhance their academic skills in European law; ii) professional standards in copyrights and economy (iii) privacy in the context of the new EU regulation; and (iv) legal reforms and their impact.

Moreover, a range of international students each year participates and you can use this as a networking opportunity and expand your international network, as this will give added value to your personal career network and the chance to stand out.

OPPORTUNITY QUALIFICATION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
The students participating in Summer Academy will receive 3 ECTS credits for all academic work, successfully carried out at any of partner institutions and they will be able to transfer these academic credits from one participating institutions to another on the basis of the prior learning agreement. If the student has successfully completed the Summer Academy program credit transfer will take place and the student will continue her/his studies at the home institution without any loss of time or credit.
A Certificate of Course Completion stating the course and credits will be handed to the students on completion of the program.

THE DESIRED OUTCOME
At the end of this course students will be expected to gain a demonstrated knowledge and understanding the ongoing challenges and prospects of European legislation in the field of privacy and intellectual property, how to map out arguments and ideas, how to face the trends in the data protection European legislation and best practices, to foster the study of European law and economics of patents, the challenges for the European patent system and also the challenges to copyright law through new technologies.
